UD TRUCKS CRONER PKE
The Croner is one of the most fuel-efficient trucks ever. It utilizes the fuel needed efficiently without waste because of the new GHE engine series, automatic transmission, a built-in fuel coach and a more aerodynamic cab which reduces the coefficient of drag (CD) more significantly by 5 percent. This truck is equipped with UD Telematics, an integrated system aimed to maximize profitability and uptime with services, such as fuel utilization reports, track and trace, and proactive support.
The PKE is a 17 tonner medium heavy-duty for inter-district, long haul and heavier load purposes. Total wheelbase length stretches up to 6,500mm and wheels are even bigger at R19.5-20. Its GH8E 7.7 liter mill is an in-line, six-cylinder turbodiesel mill generating variable ratings of 250 and 280 at 2,200 rpm with staggering figures of 950 and 1050 N-m of maximum torque, respectively, starting at 1,100 to 1800 rpm. Likewise, it is mated to either a six-speed manual or automatic gearboxes.

Fuel coaching
All Croner models are equipped with a built-in fuel coach, an onboard solution clearly displayed at the center of the instrument cluster, giving instructions in real time. Fuel coaching improves driving behavior by prompting driver to use optimal revs and reduce unnecessary acceleration.

The GH5E delivers fuel-efficient daily duty work for a wide range of applications. Efficient output and high torque allows for engine ‘downsizing’ without compromises.
The 8-liter 6-cylinder diesel engine
